Via bleacherreport.com. The Washington Football Team has been going through a lot of changes, like finally deciding on a new name for the team, but Tuesday they added a new one.
They're replacing their cheerleaders with a coed dance squad. WFT senior adviser Petra Pope told USA Today that the fired cheerleeaders still have a chance to try out for the new dance squad, as long as they have, "a skill set of being super athletic, which is what we're really honing in on."
She added, "We want to be more inclusive, so we are going to invite a coed entity. We're able to do more things with the strength of a male, and lifts, so that's changed a great deal. The inclusivity, strength and interest of choreography has changed."
It would have been nice if they told the cheerleaders first. It looks like they found out they were fired by reading about it on social media. Check out the posts from 2 members of the team's "First Ladies of Football" cheerleading group...
Why do I picture a coed football dance squad looking like this? Go Washington!!!
