Melanie Hamrick, 38-year-old fiancée of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, has revealed she was "physically attacked" outside an exclusive London club, leaving her "shaken, sad and heartbroken."

In a since-deleted Instagram Story posted late Tuesday, February 10th, Hamrick described the frightening incident that occurred at Annabel's, a private members club in London's upscale Mayfair neighborhood.

"This is incredibly hard to share - but I was physically attacked at @annabelsmayfair tonight," Hamrick wrote. "Two people grabbed me from behind and thank god for good people who stepped in to help me. I'm shaken, sad and heartbroken that people can treat each other this way."

According to The Sun, the incident appears to have been an "opportunist mugging." Hamrick credited friends with protecting her during the attack.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told People Magazine, "We are aware of an Instagram story alleging an assault in Mayfair on Tuesday 10 February, and encourage the victim to report this to us." The statement continued, "The Met is committed to tackling crime in the West End, including violence against women and girls, and recognizes the traumatic impact incidents of this nature can have on victims."

It did not appear that 82-year-old Jagger was with Hamrick during the alleged attack.

Hamrick, a former ballerina with the American Ballet Theatre, met Jagger in 2014 at a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo. The couple, who share a 44-year age gap, welcomed their son Deveraux in 2016. He is Hamrick's first child and Jagger's eighth.

Though rumors of their engagement had circulated for years, Hamrick only confirmed last April to Paris Match that they had "been engaged two or three years," though she added they might never marry, saying, "We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything."

The couple and their son spend much of their time in France. Hamrick retired from ballet in 2019 and has since launched a career as a novelist.

Representatives for Jagger and Annabel's have not yet commented on the incident.
