The Who's up to something, but what is it? The band is holding a press event on Thursday (May 8) in London where they plan to make a “special announcement followed by an exclusive Q&A session” and livestream the whole thing to fans worldwide. The project is called "The Song Is Over," and Rolling Stone predicts that they're announcing a farewell tour.

The outlet pointed out that bands generally only hold press events for tour announcements and added that "The Song Is Over"—the title of a fan-favorite Who's Next deep cut—would be a fitting name for a farewell tour.

Pete Townsend has flip-flopped several times about the prospect of a farewell tour, and his last statement was a positive one. "I met with Roger for lunch a couple of weeks ago," the guitarist said last October. "We're in good form. We love each other. We're both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year."

If The Who do announce a farewell tour, it won't be the first time. They launched "The Who The End" tour in 1982, and frontman Roger Daltrey said he was done with touring after their 2017 trek. We'll see what they have up their sleeves tomorrow. In the meantime, they're calling for fans to submit questions via social media, so if you have a burning question to ask the band now is your chance`.
