Mike Pence Avoids North Korean Delegation During Opening Ceremony

Vice President Mike Pence did not recognize the sister of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un during the opening ceremony at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. According to Fox News, Pence shook hands with all the dignitaries except Kim Yo Jong, during a VIP reception ahead of the ceremony.

In a rare show of unity, Kim Yo Jong, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in shook hands after they were announced during the opening ceremony. Kim Yo Jong's visit to South Korea marks the first time a family member of the North Korean dynasty has traveled to South Korea since the Korean war, which started in 1950.

Pence did not stay for the entire opening ceremony. He left shortly after the United States was introduced.
