GOOD STUFF: Local Students Give Back For Catholic Schools Week

For this year's Catholic Schools Week, students at Immaculate Conception in Fayetteville are giving back to those in need. Each class collected items that are on the wish list of Francis House and Samaritan Center, including canned goods, toiletries and office supplies. Other students are doing their part by making fleece blankets for Golisano Children's Hospital, and sending out special thank you cards to local organizations and businesses that help support the school. A Georgia teen had her 18th birthday wish come true... she was a perfect match to save her grandfather’s life. For the last six years, Sam Senseney has been on the kidney transplant list, and his granddaughter, Maddie Sabourin, has been by his side as his health has declined. The high school senior has spent years raising awareness and money for the American Kidney Fund, while all of her family and friends were tested to see if they could be donors- with no luck. But the day after Maddie’s 18th birthday, she herself was tested- and she found out she’s a match! The pair is scheduled to meet with doctors next week to schedule the transplant, which they hope will be within the month. Read the full story here: CBS 46 - Atlanta

A 13-year-old teen in Texas saved a bus full of students after the driver had a medical emergency. Karson Vega noticed the school bus driver began to drive erratically on their way home from school. When he realized it was an emergency, he jumped into action- first calling 911, then turning the bus flashers on and taking over the wheel. He was able to stop the bus and get the driver safely away from the wheel. The driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine. Read the full story here: FOX 7 - Austin

Liz Shoesmith used sign language to surprise her husband Scott on their wedding day. Scott, who is deaf, wouldn't be able to hear their wedding song, so Liz spent two months learning how to sign every lyric of Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years." As she stepped into the aisle, she stopped and signed the entire song for Scott. The groom was visibly moved, and the whole song was captured on video. Check out the full story here: LAD Bible
